There are those who have the legal papers done in their home countries but travel to Thailand to celebrate the event, and there are couples who have the whole package done here. It is not unusual for foreigners to have doubts whether or not their marriage in Thailand will be recognized in their  own countries. Couple can be assured that their marriage will be legal as long as they undergo the proper procedures.


The process of getting married in Thailand is quite simple Couples must first obtain clearance from their embassies and get an affidavit stating the name, personal details proving that both parties are free to marry.  


The Bride & Groom must be at least 17 years of age; otherwise, they will need permission from a court and their parents.


Documents are to be translated to Thai then the administrative marriage is perfumed at the Thai district offices of the local Amphoe or Khet.


From start to finish, it will take only 3-4 days to complete, giving the newlyweds ample time to enjoy their honeymoon. 


There are quite a few local law firms who specialize  in the matter and their service is to ensure that all legal procedures are not overlooked.
